Laurence Turney,
R.P.Bio., Owner/Senior Wildlife Biologist, is the sole proprietor of Ardea
Biological Consulting. He graduated from the University of Victoria in
1983 with an emphasis on zoology and ecology and has over 15 years of
fish and wildlife habitat related experience. Laurence has held positions
with consulting firms, the Department of Renewable Resources in the Northwest
Territories, and the BC Ministry of the Environment. Laurence has
over 13 years experience in project and personnel management, as well
as valuable experience in fish and wildlife habitat issues and integrated
resource planning related to timber harvesting, land management and impact
assessments. He is also experienced in a variety of survey techniques
and management strategies for fish and wildlife species found in the province.
In recent years, Laurence has been project manager for a number of studies
of mountain goat habitat and habitat use in the Morice Forest District
near Nadina Mountain. Studies have included behaviour and habitat use
of forested rocky bluff sites near Nadina Mountain, monitoring of mountain
goat use of a trail system from Nadina Mountain to a mineral lick, mountain
goat population inventories of Nadina Mountain and Mount Morice and site
investigations of mountain goat GPS collar locations. Laurence has
extensive experience in field assessment methods including sign removal
transects, encounter transects and aerial surveys.
Roy Blume, Wildlife Biologist, has worked with Laurence
over the past six years on a variety of wildlife habitat assessment projects.
He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo, Ontario) in 1985
with a degree in geography and completed a Diploma of Technology in Environmental
Science at Camosun College (Victoria, BC) in 1998. Roy has been a key
participant in several studies of mountain goat habitat use and behaviour
in the Morice Forest District. These projects include studies of forested
habitat use by mountain goats, monitoring of trail use by mountain goats
moving from Nadina Mountain to a mineral lick, inventories of mountain
goat populations on Nadina Mountain and Mount Morice and site investigations
of mountain goat GPS collar locations. He was also involved in a project
on habitat suitability mapping for mountain goats in the Kispiox Forest
District, and inventories of non-alpine mountain goat habitat in the Morice
and Lakes Forest Districts. Roy has extensive experience in field assessment
methods including sign removal transects, encounter transects, aerial
surveys and aerial and ground based radio telemetry.
Anne-Marie Roberts, Wildlife Biologist, has worked on a variety
of wildlife and habitat projects over the previous seven years. She graduated
from Simon Fraser University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology
with the Co-op program and has been working and consulting in the Skeena
region for over six years. She has experience on a variety of projects
including wildlife habitat assessments, ecosystem mapping projects, and
caribou winter forage and diet studies. Anne-Marie has extensive experience
in field assessment methods including reconnaissance level assessments,
encounter transects and participated in conducting site investigations
of mountain goat GPS collar locations.
